By Tomeu Bordoy

the hotel factory continues growing, not only in new and interesting projects, but also in regards to its team. We always have candidates who come to our company to do internships relating to their degree of studies or university master thanks to the various university agreements that we have signed with universities throughout the Spanish territory as well as internationally.

Therefore, as we usually do, we have asked the people who are doing their internships with us to tell us something more about themselves, their studies and their experience with us.

Today we introduce to you Tae Ishida; a Master student in the Tourism Administration of Balearic Islands University and intern here at the hotel factory with us since October of 2017.

THF: Tell us a little bit more about yourself. Where are you from? What are you studying?

I am from a small coastal city in the center of Japan, and I am 24 years old. After having completed an exchange program in León and having lived in Ibiza for several months, I have decided to come back to Spain to live permanently. I have just started a master in Tourism Management at the UIB.

THF: Why did you decide to study this?

I always loved to travel and that is what made me who I am today. After studying Global Studies and learning English and Spanish, I wanted to specialize in Business Administration in the tourism sector. Fortunately, I have found the ideal master and the perfect internship for me.

Besides the economic importance of the tourism sector for the development of the countries, I believe that it is a powerful tool for people to get to know the world better for example, to have empathy to different cultures, and as a result it helps us to make the world a better place.

THF: How did you come to know about the hotel factory? What caught your attention?

I was looking for an internship position of the direction of hotels, but one day the coordinator of my master, Carolina Navarro, called me offering the opportunity to have an interview with the hotel factory, where I accepted it willingly. As soon as I started investigating about the company, I realized that it was the opportunity that I could not miss by any means because of its team of professionals, methodologies, international orientation, and other factors which makes it a very successful company. I cannot think of a better company to apply my master’s education.

THF: What was your impression when you met us for the first time during the interview?

At first, the situation was so formal that it made me a little bit nervous, but soon I was comfortable talking to them thanks to their attention and the warmth of the team.

THF: Now that you have seen first hand the kind of work that we do here, is it what you expected of a hotel consultant?

It has by far exceeded my expectations about the work that they realize in hotel consultancy. The projects that we are working on are very interesting and the dynamics of the work are just amazing. I cannot ask for a better company to work for.

THF: What do you like the most about this job?

I love that I can be creative and can contribute ideas for the projects. Everyday I learn something new and with the help of my master’s education I like that I can apply the majority of theoretical knowledge to real world situations .

THF: What type of projects have you worked on during your months with us? Do find them interesting?

I have been working on the project that consist of creating a strategic plan to increase online reputation of a hotel chain, which is already in its last phase. It has allowed me to observe all the methodologies that they have used to realize this highly complex project.

THF: What you would say to all the students who want to work as an intern? What reasons would you give for them to choose the hotel factory?

Even though it looked like it would be so challenging, I am very happy that I took the initiative to go in this direction. I would like to encourage students to enter the world of hotel consultancy because of the advantages of working hard outweigh the challenges you may encounter. At the hotel factory, you can learn so much, and if it is not enough, there is a great collaborative work environment to enjoy.
