the hotel factory has been through certain transformations during the past months. Not only the opening of our new office in Madrid, located in Principe de Vergara street, but also in terms of its team.
During this short period of time, the hotel factory has expanded its workforce with 5 new incorporations and, at the same time, 3 new appointments have been made among its existing employees.
For this reason, we have asked them to tell us more about themselves and to share it with all of you during the upcoming weeks. We have a couple of questions ready for them to answer, and with them we hope that you can learn a little more about them than what you can learn on the Team tab on our website where you can find all of the team members at the hotel factory.
Therefore, as a first day, we would like to introduce you to Mirjam de Boer, one of our new consultants who has joined the office in Palma de Mallorca.
THF: Tell us a bit about yourself, a summary of how you got here.
My name is Mirjam and I arrived from my home country Holland to Mallorca last year in October 2015. After completing my studies in International Communication and a year of experience in the Marketing department of a real estate company in Rotterdam, I decided to start a master in Business Management in Palma. After a year many changes and getting used to living here, in one of the most interesting destination for the tourism sector, I decided to introduce myself to the hotel factory, joining their team in early september. I am very pleased to be able to work in such a variety of interesting projects, as well as creating meaningful concepts for our clients.
THF: Now we come to the questions. What do you like the most about the hotel factory and which is the first word that comes to mind when we talk about the company?
I like that the hotel factory has such a wide and varied portfolio. Even though all projects belong to the hotelier sector, they are all different. This makes it fun to work in each one of the projects, turning us in specialists in all hotel types.
Opportunities. Everything in this company is all about taking available resources and transforming them into big opportunities.
THF: Your greatest weakness, what can’t you resist?
Probably it’s something shared by many people: Chocolate!
THF: With what do you disagree?
Prejudgements. I don’t like people that judge others without knowing them.
THF: What do you like to do during your free time, do you practice any sport?
I like to practice many types of sports. I’ve already competed twice in the Paseo Marítimo race and I have started with paddle tennis classes. I really like horse riding and I would like to discover beautiful routes around the island.
THF: Books or films, coffee or tea, and why?
Films and popcorn on fridays and coffee in the mornings, during break time.
THF: Any secret you would like to share with us?
Obviously you would like to know one, but even if I decided to share any with you I would have to make one up.
THF: What was your last trip?
Once I was talking to some people that really admire Europe’s diversity, so I thought it was a good reason to discover a little more about our continent. I decided to make a 3 week road trip. It was a little short because there is so much to visit and see, but it was worth it. I travelled to France and Italy, visiting Quiberon, Bordeaux, Corsica and Livorno, Florence and Chianti in the peninsula of Italy.
THF: Something that scares you.
I really value liberty in life, so it would be a shame to lose it in some way, not being able to do what you like.
THF: How do you get energy for your day to day life?
With small achievements, being around positive people and to see that the work you do is valuable to our clients.
THF: What would you say to yourself 5 years ago?
That I should travel more and learn more cultures. It has been that way, But I never imagined I would emigrate!
And here ends our little interview. If you want to know more about her and the rest of the team members of the hotel factory, don’t hesitate to visit the Team tab on our website or look for us on LinkedIn where you can also find latest news of the hotel sector.
