Spain is working to become one of the leading cyclist destinations in the world. \u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sports tourism includes all types of trips motivated by the practice of <\/span><b>sport activities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with a competitive or leasure purpose or simply as a spectator. Spanish hoteliers are increasingly relying on this type of tourism to<\/span><b> reduce seasonality<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the past years, trips made by international tourist<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> sport reasons have increased considerably, becoming <\/span><b>Spain\u2019s 3rd travel motivation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, having registered <\/span><b>more than 2,4 millions international tourists<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> according to the latest data published by Frontur in 2014. \u00a0This boom is due, among other reasons, to the increase <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the practice of outdoor sport activities such as cycling, golf, running, triathlon or more extreme sports such as trails, ultra trails and ironman.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: right; margin-left: 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thehotelfactory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/cliclismo.jpg\" alt=\"ciclismo\" width=\"303\" height=\"202\" data-id=\"2772\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The clearest example that we can find of this trend is ciclo tourism in europe, which has registered <\/span><b>more than 20 million trips per year <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">motivated by this sport<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. T<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hese trips include at least one overnight stay at a hotel establishment.
